I am so grateful to whoever it was that invented the process of recording. So much of my life is dependent upon not listening to music or watching ‘stuff’ as it is broadcast, but late at night sitting down to unwind and watching something or listening to something that has been pre-recorded. One of those programmes that is set to record for the series is the programme ‘outnumbered’.
It features, one household, comprising two parents and three rather energetic children. I enjoy the programme for all sorts of reasons, not the least because of the natural banter that goes on between parents and children. Perhaps because it is so natural, I have often wondered at the skill of the script writers (Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkins) to capture so precisely the logical and argumentative minds of the children. That is until I recently read that it is only the adults (Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner) that in fact get to see the story lines, the children just improvise, make it up as they go along.
That seems to me to be so like life, don’t we all feel at times that we are just making it up as life goes on? Life is so full of uncertainties, the great unknown, which is why I am so grateful of the reality of Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
