It never ceases to amaze me the research that some universities get to do. Some of the benefits are immediately obvious, whilst others are a little more obscure, or at least fall into the category that says, “tuck this information away, one day it might be useful”!
Such was the recent research I read that has declared
11th April 1954 as the most boring day in history, with apologies for anyone who got married, gave birth or some other significant personal event happened in your life on that day.
The research students had spent some two years trawling through documents, newspapers, news reports, historical data, devising formulae, graphs, scoring systems and the like, in order to let the world know that nothing of significant happened on that day. Over 300 million pieces of data were researched. On the 11 April 1954 there was no birth or death of a celebrity, no beginning or end of any unrest, no accident, no invention, no discovery, the only fact of note was that there was a general election in Belgium, and I’ll leave you to decide how important that may have been.
When you have the sort of day when nothing happens, or even a day when too much happens, please remember this note – “The steadfast love of the Lord, never ceases, it is new every morning”.
