Our largest project for 2009/10 is the development of our undercroft as quality space for Gillingham teenagers. Names mooted so far include "The Zone" and "The Underground" and "The Space". Computers with supervised internet access and other relevant equipment will be provided and the space will have a representative of Gillingham Youth for Christ overseeing.

GMC Book of Remembrance
Our Book of Remembrance has been given a new home. It now lies on its very own display desk – attached to the top of the Baptism Font.
The Font, part of the lovely matching suite of Sanctuary furniture, sits in all elegance in the East Apse; it is only needed occasionally for Baptisms. Now it has an additional and regular function, providing the base for our Book of Remembrance.
On those occasions when the Font is needed for a Baptism, the display desk can easily be detached. We are very grateful to David Godding, who took the idea and turned it into a reality.
Thank you David!

Outreach through sound and vision
A few months ago we highlighted some changes to the sound system at the church. These are very much outreach based, and now completed GMC to provide copies of services to a far wider audience (and in a far more timely manner) that we are currently able to do. It also allows us to place the actual message (in days of yore the sermon!) on the internet.
We have added new recording facilities, a screen in the welcome area, which relays the Sunday service to any using the area as well as be able to play back services and other material during other times.
We are be able to provide a minimum of three copies within a few minutes of the end of the service, so you can enjoy your coffee while these are being produced and then further copies will be possible after that. We will also keep a library of services so if you miss one, or maybe want to listen again to a particular message that has touched your heart, then copies can be made available. The message will also be made available on the GMC website.
You can help us with this work.
Do you currently watch the tape of Sunday services? If so we would welcome your comments as to the quality of the content.
Could the mix of the sound be improved? Do you prefer the camera to be focussed on the church notices at the beginning of the service?
When we are worshipping do you prefer the camera being still or moving around? (for the techies - panning!)
Do you like a close-up of those at the front, which may mean we move the camera as we move around the floor, or a simple wide-angle view?
These are just a few questions. You may have other comments, all of which will help the team to deliver a more polished service.
If you have any questions or observations then please come and speak to one of the team.
